Organized in 1952, the Montgomery Woman's Club remains dedicated to community service and to the promotion of cultural and environmental endeavors within the local area. For details on Montgomery Woman's Club activities click on banner segments above.

The 2010-2011 series has been announced. First speaker is Bob Woodward. Full series list can be seen on the Town Hall Webpage. The brochures for 2010-2011 Town Hall Lecture Series will be sent to our current mailing list on April 23rd. If you are not on this list and
would like to receive ticket information go to the same Town Hall Webpage for more details.

The club completed the evaluation of applicants for the Woman's Opportunity Grant and four grants were awarded. This is an annual opportunity and general details are in the
MWC had a booth at the July 17th Montgomery-Neuilly Pleasance Sister City "Bastille Day" celebration in downtown Montgomery. Members sold tickets for various prizes..
Butterfly theme for the final club meeting of the 2009-2010 year. This butterfly is a montage, prepared by Club President Kathy Takanen, with photos on the webshots album. Meeting agenda is attached.

The fourth and final lecture of the 2009-2010 Town Hall Series was on April 21st and 22nd, 2010 .This featured Barry Scheck. His presentation covered the aspects of DNA technology and status of "The Innocence Project" both within USA and internationally. Local issues were also covered..
MWC High School Senior and College Undergraduate Scholarship recipients were honored at April 15th program meeting.

Third lecture of Town Hall Series was on March 24th and 25th, 2010 .This featured Jane Bryant Quinn (columnist/author) with her talk, "Making the Most of Your Money".
Her clear presention and relaxed deilvery style made for an enjoyable and educational lectutre.
A successful Antiques and Art Show took place on March 20th and 21st, 2010, at Sycamore High School.

On March13th,2010, members of the club enjoyed a lunch and fashion show organized by Sharonville Women's Club. Spring fashions weresupplied by Dillard's and modeled by Sharonville members and friends. Picture shows MWC club members with back

Social event: Potluck Dinner Committee organized a Valentine's Champagne Dinner on 2/19. Event included spouses. A good time was had by all.
Successful applicants will be honored at the April 15th, 2010 club meeting
The February program, February 18th, covered personal safety awareness and was presented by local Montgomery police officer Pat Giblin,assisted by his wife. The attached photo shows the presenters with club members Annette Phipps (left) and Kathy Takanen (right).
Seventh Grade Essay Contest: This essay contest is open to all seventh grade students who reside in the Sycamore School District.

The members of MWC provide birthday cakes, on a monthly basis, to residents of theMontgomery Care Center on Cooper Road.They also provide cakes and cookies
for a Christmas party: photos here, and attached, show this Christmas activity on Dec 21st.
The Club's annual Holiday Luncheon was held on Thursday 17th Dec, 2009 at Kenwood Country Club. An enjoyable meeting and holiday lunch was combined with seasonal piano music.

Pictured here are Captain Randall Linnemann (right) and Captain George Seiler. Randy is a former recipient of Montgomery Woman’s Club Senior and College Undergraduate Scholarships. Randy’s sense of humor always added greatly to our enjoyment of the Scholarship Awards meetings. Since making the Army his career, Randy has risen to the rank of Captain. His unit, C Company, 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion Mountain Division (Light Infantry) is stationed in Afghanistan. We are very proud to know Randy.
In August 2009, members of the club assembled handmade Halloween cards for Randy’s unit
to send home to their children, and plan to support them further with the little extras that help
to keep them in touch with home. In Sepember the members handmade Thanksgiving cards for
Randy's unit. See volunteers at work!
Update: Randy's Company is now coming home. He quotes: "Our single soldiers come home to an empty barracks room that resembles a college dorm before move in day.We try to get toiletries and sheets for them; my First Sergeant and FRSA (Family Readiness Support Advisor) are the best to give you advice on how to help with this issue." At the November meeting the Club collected over $400 for the FRSA people to buy these items (it is cheaper than trying to mail the items). Donations by cash or checks made payable to HHC FRG are always welcomed.
Decorating Downtown Montgomery with seasonal greenery and
bows is an annual activity for the Club in cooperation with the City.

A very successful Finery and Fleas was held on October 31st. Our chairmen were pleased with the results.
Second Town Hall Lectures of Nov. 18th and 19th, 2009 are over . Lori Borgman's ("I Was a Better Mother Before I Had Kids"), uplifting humor was enjoyed by all.
First Town Hall lectures, Oct 7-8th are over and general agreement was that Jack Hanna was a great success.
His message was assisted by some live animals from his own zoo (Columbus) and the local, much respected, Cincinnati Zoo.

Bastille Day celebration for 2009 has come and gone.
The Club had a winning float in the city of Montgomery's 4th of July parade.

A successful scrapbooking event, Crop the Holidays, was held at the Edwin Greene Intermediate School on January 17th 2009 (all day event). Look out for this being an annual occurence. The attached photo shows the area available and people involved.( More info in album)

On April 2nd the club hosted, as an annual event, the Sycamore High School International Students' Luncheon for 37 students from 11 countries.(More photos in album)
Town Hall Lecture Series
The 2009-2010 series has been published with lectures occurring in October, November (2009), March, and April (2010). Those on the mailing list will have received their application forms in the mail. If you were not on the mailing list for the 2009 -2010 series, you may apply for a ticket by visiting the Town Hall page. Antiques and Art Show
The 37th annual Antiques Show was held on Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd, 2009. New this year was the addition of an Art Show and Sale by local artists. Please check out the Antiques Show page for full details of future shows and to see photos from many Antiques Shows in the past. Bastille Day
In July the club supports the annual Bastille Day celebrations in Montgomery. A raffle is held with many prizes generously donated by local merchants.
Finery and Fleas
The annual upscale flea market, with significant finery, takes place on a Saturday in the Fall at Sycamore High School, 7400 Cornell Rd, Montgomery (directions here).
